Success Means Taking Action

Welcome fellow Boss Lady, Momtrepreneur, Dreamer, and anyone in between! I wanted to let you in on a little secret of how I believe you can to achieve success. So here it is... Start with accepting the fact that there isn't a one-size-fits-all formula that you can apply. In fact, I want you to realize that the very first step to achieving any type of success actually begins with YOU in mind.

YOU are born with your own set of unique talents and abilities just waiting to be unleashed. That dream that is inside of your heart is actually your inner self loudly proclaiming, "I can do this! This was meant for me." Yet the reality is, how many of us hear or feel that dream within us, but instead of taking action upon it, we quickly focus our attention on "reality"? So why do we do it, and how can we BEGIN TO WIN?

I want to take a moment to walk you through a journey where doubt doesn't have a voice. Where the only space up for rent in your mind is the one that is filled with belief, boldness, and being the best YOU that you can be. Reality is subjective because, in all honesty, our reality is simply the one we either create for ourselves or the lens from which we choose to see life. So there you have it! If we are not viewing life through a lens of belief, boldness and being authentic, then no wonder you fear taking the first step. Let's dive in and go through the mindset behind how we can begin to win.

I will introduce to you a series of question that you can start asking yourself. This will allow you to get into a frame of mind that is aware and purposeful. This is so important because you can't hit a target that you can't see. Before you can begin to win, you first need to understand what you are trying to accomplish. Take a moment to ask yourself the following questions:

What do I want to win in? Where should I begin?

This will not only get your mind thinking and planning, but will also get you into an action mode. Next, it's important to understand where you currently are in this process.

Am I giving myself a chance to win? What does it actually take to win?

Wherever you currently are in your journey, take some time to identify if you have what you need to move forward. Do you need to spend more time in research, resources, brainstorming ideas, seeking out mentorship and association, promotion or marketing, or maybe just choosing to take that dream and putting pen to paper? If so, start there!

Am I growing myself, or growing my dream?

It's also important to be honest with yourself, and to understand the difference between growing you (personally) and growing your dream (professionally).

I'll give you an example of how this looks.

Back when I first started learning about makeup and application, I spent a lot of time learning about the industry, the brands, and of course reading books that would empower me to believe in myself. All of these were very important to prepare me for taking action and leading with belief, boldness and being authentic. However, at the end of the day, none of those things directly led to clients being booked or products being marketed. It was still up to me to take purposeful action to get out there and APPLY the knowledge. Once I did get out there and start getting some experience under my belt, I saw the fruits of my labor. So in retrospect, I was able to realize that in order to accomplish my dreams, it is crucial to have a BALANCE between growing myself and applying myself to my craft.

Consistency is KEY. Am I staying consistent in my action mode?

Some of the most successful people I know are also some of the most consistent people I know! This is no coincidence, as anyone successful will tell you that success is a planned event. Consistency is synonymous with accountability and not only is it a character trait based on setting high standards of excellence, but it is something we can actually control. To develop consistency, all you need to do is decide to. To be more specific, consistency is advanced decision-making. When you have decided to do something at a certain time period, as things pop up (personally or professionally) it is a lot easier to remain accountable and follow-through because you will also do the thing you most prioritize. If you decide ahead of time to accomplish something, such as attending some event or reading a book, for example, when something else comes up and attempts to compete for your attention, you will still be able to draw your focus back to your initial goal. The same goes for obstacles that will be thrown your way. It's no coincidence that once we decide to prioritize a goal that will allow us to achieve a certain level of success, events in life have a way of getting in the way. Without advanced decision-making, we easily get swept up in the obstacles and what started off as a small hill can begin to grow into a mountain. However, advanced decision-making allows our mind to almost go into problem-solving mode and come up with those solutions that not only help us come up with solutions to obstacles, but can even help shrink what appears to be a mountain into a speed bump.

These are just a few of the things that I have learned that have helped me along the way. Remember, believe, be bold, and most importantly- be YOU.
